The NEPAD-Infrastructure Project Preparation Facility (NEPAD-IPPF), a multi-donor Special Fund hosted by the AfDB, is holding its 33rd Oversight Committee meeting on October, 14th and 15th, 2021, through ZOOM virtual meeting Platform.
The key objective of the Fund is to provide technical and financial assistance to African countries, regional economic communities, specialized agencies and related institutions, in the preparation of high quality and viable regional infrastructure projects in Energy, Transport, ICT and Transboundary Water sectors.
The Oversight Committee was set up at the establishment of the Fund in 2002 to provide general policy direction, and to ensure effective governance for the activities of the Fund. The objective of this 33rd Oversight Committee meeting is to discuss operational issues and future activities of the Fund.
This two-days meeting intends to provide a forum for follow-up on the recommendations from the 31st and 32nd OC meeting held in September 2020 and on March 2021, and review progress in the implementation of key infrastructure studies supported by the Fund to date.
The meeting will equally focus on the NEPAD-IPPF Special Fund 2021 mid-year report.
The meeting will also celebrate the 15 years of the NEPAD-IPPF Report titled: "Unlocking Investments for Infrastructure Projects in Africa". A short film on the 15 years of the NEPAD-IPPF special fund will be shown on the morning of the second day of the OC meeting and viewable on our YouTube channel: NEPAD-IPPF.
The discussions will focus on the progress of development of the NEPAD-IPPF Strategic Business Plan 2021-2025, the progress of development of the upcoming digital platform, as well as the upcoming new risk framework and project selection criteria for NEPAD-IPPF. It will also be an opportunity to update on the second phase of the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA PAP 2) and to report on the status of the NEPAD-SDM cooperation.
Finally, it will be an opportunity to recall that NEPAD-IPPF brought to life ambitious infrastructure projects which contribute significantly to the Africa Union Agenda 2063 and several rich initiatives such as PIDA PAP and the AfDB’s High 5 dedicated to the continent. The NEPAD-IPPF Special Fund is proud thanks to valuable support of its donor countries and partners, to be part of the relay towards more and better inter-regional infrastructure, for the benefit of the people on the African continent.
