Kazungula Bridge Phase I

Objective of the project

To prepare the economic feasibility, detailed engineering design and tender documents for the Kazungula Bridge over the Zambezi River and other key infrastructure facilities along the SADC north-south corridor within Botswana and Zambia.

Multinational Burundi/Tanzania Roads: Cankuzo – Gahumo (49 km) & Bugarama – Makebuko road (88km) / Murusagamba – Nyakahura & Kumumbuga – Murugarama (141 kms) Road

The objective of the assistance from NEPAD-IPPF is to finance the recruitment of a consultancy services firm to undertake Feasibility Studies and Detailed Design of Multinational Roads Linking Burundi and Tanzania along the Central Corridor providing access to the port of Dar-esSalaam in Tanzania, to enable the project to secure downstream investment financing.

Multinational Luberizi – Kamanyola - Bukavu Road

To undertake feasibility studies and detailed engineering design aimed at improving transport infrastructure linked to the Central Corridor, a key corridor in East Africa providing landlocked countries and sub-regions with access to the port of Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania. Improvement of this road section improves access of the eastern DRC to the Central Corridor through Burundi, which will in turn spur social economic development through lower transport costs and stimulation of economic activities in the sub-region.

Access Roads and Connection Routes to the Future Road-Rail Bridge Between the Cities of Brazzaville and Kinshasa

The objective of the assistance from NEPAD-IPPF is to finance the feasibility studies, detailed engineering designs, environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA) and preparation of bidding documents in view of the construction of the Yie - Maloukou Trechot road (26 km) and the upgrading of the Yie – Special economic zone of Maloukou Trechot road (23 km) in the Republic of Congo. The said activities to be carried out in the Republic of Congo also include Technical Assistance (TA) to the executing agency and related tasks, as well as auditing services.

Machipanda railway rehabilitation project

To undertake environmental studies to ensure completeness of prerequisite studies for development of the project and provide comfort to financiers including the AfDB to proceed with the Corporate Loan transaction to provide capital for the planned investment. The expected deliverables are: (i) Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA); (ii) Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) (iii) Resettlement Action Plan (RAP)
(iv) Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) for CFM The outputs expected are the complete set of study reports.

Corridor studies linking (i) Bouchebka (Algerian border) - Telepte-Gafsa and Gabes (Tunisian border), and (ii) Hazoua (Algerian border) -Tozeur and Gabes (Tunisian border).

At the sectoral level, the study aims to strengthen economic exchanges between the Gabes and Gafsa governorates with Algeria and Libya through a quantitative and qualitative improvement of transport infrastructure. At the specific level, it aims to determine the technical, environmental, economic and financial feasibility of developing two corridors.
