East African Submarine Cable System (EASSy)

Objective of the project

To assist in the transaction analysis phase of the project as well as update the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) to enable the project to reach financial closure and physical implementation. The EASSy is an initiative to construct and operate a submarine fiber-optic cable along the east coast of Africa to connect 20 coastal and land-locked countries to each other and to the rest of the world.

Lesotho-Botswana Water Transfer Project

The proposed L-BWT is a priority investment project selected for development under the Integrated Water Resources Management Plan of the Orange-Senqu River Basin. The project comprises the development of a dam and water storage reservoir in the Lesotho Lowlands, and a bulk water conveyance system from the reservoir, through South Africa to Botswana, over an estimated distance of 712Kms.

ORANGE SENQU Investment Plan and Project preparation

The objectives of the project are to prepare an optimised water resources development investment strategy and plan with the IWRM implementation roadmap for the Orange-Senqu River Basin and preparation of multipurpose project for implementation in the short term time frame. Climate resilience will be integrated in the planning and development of water infrastructure. Investment financing and resources mobilisation strategies will be developed in both cases. The project promotes capacity building and institutional development as part of the stakeholders’ consultation process.
